Gaomiao, located in Zhongwei County and built in the Ming Dynasty, is a building complex with about 260 temple rooms, towers and pavilions, built on a 4,000-meter-tall terrace, covering area about four thousand square metres.

It is is an architecture group unique in style , built tier upon tier with verandars and eaves close together. Bridges link most of the towers and pavilions. It is a sacred place for Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, and is one of the large ancient building complexes in Ningxia, built in the year of 1403 D.C.
