White Water Terrace

White Water Terraceis a limestone deposit plateau 108km south-east of Zhongdian with some breathtaking scenery and Tibetan villages en route. The terraces are resplendent in sunlight, but can be tough to access if rainfall has made trails slippery. There are normally horses for hire.

At the time of writing there was a bus to Sanba leaving Zhongdian daily in summer around 8am. Don’t count on this always departing, however. One option is to trek or hitch all the way from Baishuitai to Tiger Leaping Gorge.
